Taylor
Taylor Swift is that rarest of pop stars: a superstar who managed to seamlessly transition from the traditional to making her an iconic celebrity and then conquering the globe in the process. Swift left country music like it was an additional layer and proved that she's possibly the best pop-singer/songwriter in her generation. A person who has the ability to tap into the current zeitgeist and make it personal, and be able to perform at the opposite. These skills were evident on her early hits including the Neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album in 2008's Fearless featured a singer-songwriter figuring out the person she really was, and in the process, finding a mass audience. The album was hugely successful and not just in the US with six singles have been declared platinum, on top of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But the album also enjoyed a great reception across all over the world. Swift's next album, Speak Now, released just two years after the debut, further consolidated this momentum. The album propelled Swift into the spotlight. Swift's popularity grew throughout her three subsequent albums - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift was now firmly established within a genre where she belonged. Even though she had slowed the production of her folklore album, and Evermore albums in the year 2020, she was nevertheless at the forefront of pop music.
