Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on the 28th of October, 1967 as the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer who was also the first Roberts to arrive in Atlanta. Her father was enthusiastic about theatre from a very young time. As a college pupil studying at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he was a part of many performances. In 1953, he joined the Air Force. While stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi, he acted in a production with Betty Lou Bredemus. They got married in 1955. Their child, Eric Anthony, was born in 1956. In 1957 the couple left the air force and Walter was enrolled in Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter was employed as a technician by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to be a part of the production team for the show Bum Bum and His Buddies, which aired in Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou began producing a television show for children in the city of Decatur, Georgia titled Bum Bum and His Buddies. They funded the show by themselves. They also established a six-year Actors and Writers Workshop later that same year. In the meantime, they had two more kids Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in the year 1965, in 1965 and Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
